Fake receipt checker
Upload a receipt or invoice to see whether it was edited, generated with AI, or submitted before, with every reason spelled out. Free for 5 receipts a day, no account.
What it checks
- The numbers: line items add up to the subtotal, taxes and tip add up to the total, the tax rate exists in that country.
- The file: editing software, receipt-generator sites, AI-generator content credentials, missing camera data on a "photo".
- The image: pasted or retouched areas, mismatched fonts and alignment, rendering that looks generated.
- History: the same receipt, or a near copy, already submitted by you or by someone else.
For developers and AI agents
One call returns the fields, the checks, the risk and the duplicate history. Agents can sign up on their own: no dashboard, no card.

How can you tell if a receipt is fake?
Fake receipts usually give themselves away in three places: the numbers (line items that don't add up, a tax rate that doesn't exist in that country), the file (edited in Photoshop or Canva, made with a receipt generator, or carrying an AI-generator watermark), and history (the same receipt submitted twice). Receipt Audit looks at all three and lists each sign it finds.
Can it detect receipts made with AI image generators?
It looks for the traces they leave: C2PA content credentials, generator metadata, and the too-clean rendering typical of generated images. None of these is proof on its own, so you get a risk score with the reasons rather than a yes or no.
Do you store my receipt?
No. The image is read once and discarded. We keep fingerprints (hashes) of the image and of its key fields so that a receipt submitted twice can be recognised, and nothing that lets anyone rebuild the receipt.
How does duplicate detection work?
Every check adds the receipt's fingerprints to a shared network. If the same receipt, or a re-photographed or cropped copy of it, comes back later from anyone, the check says so and when it was first seen.
Is there an API?
Yes, a REST API and an MCP server. AI agents can get a key on their own with one request and 50 free checks; a person claims the account later and adds prepaid credits.
